Sometimes I wonder, why did God give me a “yes” in my spirit?
I absolutely love what God says in Proverbs 3:5-6 about trusting Him fully with our lives.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
So often we think, “That is insane,” “I could never do that,” Why would I do that,” etc. We can’t fathom the thought of something, but God might say “say yes,” and we must decide to either be disobedient or obedient to the call. I don't know about you, but I will always choose to be obedient. My whole life I have always thought to myself, “I love babies, but man, I don't know about older kids, I can’t handle them.” So when God called me into full-time Children's Ministry, I asked Him, “Are you sure about this? Do you have the right Gabi?”
Isn’t it funny how He pulls us out of our comfort zones? I don’t know what it is that you feel the Lord is tugging at your heart, or what you feel called to. It might be scary, it might not make any sense, and it might even be something you’ve said “never” to your whole life. But if you feel that tug from God, step out in faith and say “yes”. If you were to understand everything before you do it, would you even need faith for that?
I often think of the story of Ruth. Ruth was clinging to her mother-in-law, Naomi, and stated “Your people will be my people and your God my God.” She was stepping out in faith and trusting God even though her husband had just died, and they were left with nothing. She was trusting that God would prepare a way. She believed in God, even though she knew very little of Him. Ruth didn’t know what she was saying “yes” to when she decided to stay with Naomi, but she said yes anyways and from that had a beautiful life!
So if the Lord has been tugging at your heart, or He has been pushing you to step out in faith, just say yes. It is okay to not have all of the answers to the thousand questions running in your mind.
On the other side of your “yes” is a beautiful story that He is waiting for you to unfold, another glorious part of your testimony. So I leave you with this: if the Lord is leading you to step out and say “yes” in faith today, will you say yes?
