“‘She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.’ Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: ‘Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,’ which translated means, ‘God with us’” (Matt. 1:21-23).
Merry Christmas!
I pray as you read this blog today, whether you are celebrating with your loved ones or are celebrating this Christmas alone, that you will remember that God is with you!
Jesus. Born in a lowly manger, came to save people from their sins. As one of my favorite songs, “Oh Holy Night” proclaims so beautifully the wonder of Christ’s birth and what it means to us:
“Oh Holy Night, the stars are brightly shining, it is the night or our dear Savior's birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining till he appeared and the soul felt it’s worth. A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.”
The world was in need of a savior to come and save it. He was God with us, and He came to deliver us from our sins and to bring hope to a weary world that would rejoice at the birth of the Messiah. Oh, what a holy night it was!
We talk about Emmanuel, God with Us, a lot at Christmas time, but He is God with us at all times, in every season. I love how David put it in Psalm 139 when he says, “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, You are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there Your hand will guide me, Your right hand will hold me fast.”
Jesus came to us and overcame everything that separated us from God. He came to give us His joy, peace, love, and hope. He is with us, wherever we go, whatever we go through. He is Emmanuel, God with Us. He was with us that night in Bethlehem and He is with us now, wherever you may be on this Christmas morning.
I pray today as you celebrate Christmas and remember what it truly means, that you will experience all He came to give. I pray for Peace to surround you, for Joy that nothing can take away, for Love that knows no limits and for the Hope of the world to be yours today.
Have a Merry Christmas!
