Standing on The Promises of God

The promises of God are a source of hope and strength for believers throughout the ages. These divine assurances are scattered like precious gems throughout the Bible, offering comfort and guidance in our daily lives. Pastor Jason preached Sunday on the promises of God and how those promises are assurances of what God will do. Even if our present situation or circumstances don’t show it, we can count on the promises of God to be fulfilled in our lives.
 
There are so many promises throughout scripture. Here are a few of the promises that we stand on today!
 
God's Promise of Salvation
The most significant promise in the Bible is the assurance of salvation. In John 3:16 we read, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." This verse encapsulates the gospel message: through belief in Jesus Christ, we are promised eternal life.

The Promise of God's Presence
God's presence is a recurring promise throughout the Bible. Deuteronomy 31:6 encourages us, "Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you." This promise is not only for the Israelites but for all who seek God's presence in their lives.

The Promise of Provision
Philippians 4:19 states, "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus." God promises to provide for our needs, not necessarily our wants, and He does so according to His glorious riches, which are beyond measure.

The Promise of Peace
In a world that is often chaotic and stressful, the promise of peace is especially comforting. Jesus says in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." This peace is not dependent on external circumstances but is a deep-seated tranquility that comes from knowing God.

The Promise of Strength and Help
Isaiah 41:10 offers this assurance, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." In times of weakness or trouble, we can rely on God's promise to provide strength and help.

The Promise of Guidance
Proverbs 3:5-6 instructs us to, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight." God promises to guide us through life's complexities when we place our trust in Him and acknowledge Him in all our decisions.

The Promise of New Beginnings
Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us of God's mercies: "Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness." Each day is a new beginning with God, a fresh opportunity to experience His love and faithfulness.

As we reflect on these promises, let us hold fast to the truth of God's Word. The Bible is our guidebook, filled with divine promises that stand the test of time. Whether we are seeking salvation, presence, provision, peace, strength, guidance, or a new start, God's promises are yes and amen in Christ Jesus (2 Corinthians 1:20). Let us stand firm on these promises, for they are the bedrock of our faith and the source of our hope.
