Perfect Peace

There are so many things that can keep our minds occupied and busy. Our world is fast-paced and always changing and sometimes our thoughts can feel overwhelming just trying to keep up. Peace feels more elusive than obtainable, and we often find ourselves thinking about everything, but God.

One of my favorite scriptures is Isaiah 26:3-4: “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal rock.”

This verse speaks directly to our need for peace and assurance from God. It is a powerful reminder that perfect peace is not just a fleeting feeling but a state of being that God promises to those who “Keep their minds on Him” and remain steadfast in their faith. The term “perfect peace” in Hebrew is “shalom shalom,” a double emphasis that signifies completeness and absolute peace. This peace isn’t determined by our external circumstances or the chaos around us, but is rooted in a deep, unwavering trust in God.

Isaiah shows the importance of a steadfast mind, a mind focused on God. In a world filled with distractions and uncertainties, maintaining a focused and steady mind can be challenging. However, it is this very steadfastness that anchors us in God's peace. By keeping our thoughts and hearts fixed on God's promises and character, we can navigate life's storms with a sense of calm and assurance. This verse calls us to trust in the Lord forever, emphasizing that God is our eternal rock.

Unlike the shifting sands of this world, God's nature and promises are unchanging. This eternal stability provides a solid foundation upon which we can build our lives, knowing that we are secure in His hands.

This profound promise of peace surpasses our understanding. By keeping our minds steadfast and trusting in the Lord, we can experience the perfect peace that only He can provide. In a world that often feels chaotic and uncertain, let us anchor ourselves in the eternal rock and embrace the Peace of God that comes from unwavering faith and trust in Him.
