The Sweetest Sound

By: Tabitha White

What’s your favorite sound? We all have at least a couple sounds that never fail to make us smile. Maybe it’s your kids laughing or your spouse’s voice. It could be a favorite song or the sound of crashing waves. My list of favorite sounds is pretty predictable if you know me well…our family’s loud laughter, the squeak of basketball shoes on a gym floor, ocean waves, and rainy nights.

But there’s one other sound that gets me every single time, and that’s a sound that I have the privilege of hearing every single week! A sound that I pray that I never take for granted. That sound is kids pouring out their hearts in worship! There’s something special about their innocent voices singing praise to their Creator! They don’t hold back or worry if they are right on key. They sing at the top of their lungs because they know that Jesus loves them and their worship makes Him smile!

This week in Revival Kids, we introduced a new song that is a current favorite of our seven year old, Cayden. When we introduce a new song to the kids, we take the time to explain what the song really means. Instead of just reading words off of a screen, we want them to really understand what they are singing. So, today, we opened our Bibles to Revelation 4:8, “Day and night they never stop saying: “’Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty,’ who was, and is, and is to come.”  Think about that for a second. Day and night, the angels and the four living creatures never stop worshiping God and telling Him just how holy he is.

We also read Revelation 5:13 which says, “And then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea. They sang: “Blessing and honor and glory and power belong to the one sitting on the throne and to the Lamb forever and ever.””

Can you imagine that scene? Every single creature praising God and giving Him the glory that He really deserves! While I can only imagine what a scene that will be, we got to see a small portion of it on Sunday morning. As we started playing Echo Holy, little hands started to lift. Eyes were closed, and sweet voices started echoing the song of Heaven!

“A million angels fall
Face down on the floor
All to echo Holy is the Lord
My heart can't help but sing
With all of Heaven roar
Forever echo Holy is the Lord”

That’s a sound that I want to bottle and carry with me. The sound that doesn’t worry about perfection, but knows Who is really listening. I want to challenge you today to worship like a child - with their passion and abandon! They bring their worship as an offering to God and believe that He is listening! Like my seven year old riding down the road with his hands lifted and belting these lyrics, let’s join with Heaven to and echo just how holy our Lord truly is!
