Surrender. Trust. Go.

By: Gabi Pope

The down time between Christmas and the New Year is usually the time of the year where I look back on all that God has done. I bring God all the good, the bad, and the ugly from the past year. I sit with Him and look through old prayer journals and really think about everything that has happened this year and all the answered prayers.

Then, I ask for a fresh vision for the next year.

In the culture most of us have been raised in, we think it is all on us to figure out where we need to go, what we need to do and how it needs to get done. Most of us put a ton of pressure on ourselves to figure out the next year and have a perfect plan, and yes I’m guilty of this too.

However, with God, things are very different.

Proverbs 16:3 is the verse I will be basing my new year on.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3

As we head into this new year, I want to encourage you to do these three things:

  1. Surrender. Submit your plans to His plans. Lay down your will and accept what His will is for your life. God is not going to hurt you, His plans are simply to prosper you, to give you hope and a future! (Jeremiah 29:11)
  2. Trust. Trust that after you surrender, God is going to lead you. He is going to show you exactly what He wants you to do in 2025. He is going to give you the wisdom and guidance that you need, when you ask for it, and do not doubt. (James 1:5)
  3. Go. I believe after we have surrendered, and after we have trusted in full faith God is going to lead us in the direction we should go, then we can pay attention to the thoughts, plans and ideas that have been put on our hearts. We can go forward in faith, knowing that He is with us.

If your 2024 wasn’t what you expected it to be, take faith that it was exactly what God needed it to be in order to shape you into who He needs you to be in 2025.

This new year, God has so many surprises and good things in store for each one of us. He is always up to something new and exciting. I am praying that 2025 is incredible for each of you, and that God will use you in new ways!!
