This weekend, we took a group of 4th-6th grade Revival Kids students to Kids456 at Springville Camp and Conference Center. While Kids456 is a fun-filled weekend that is jam packed with laughs and memories, it is also a weekend where kids are able to dive into God’s Word and spend time in His presence. It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year!
This year, the camp evangelist, Pastor Tim Jones, opened camp by asking “Who is your Elijah, and who is your Elisha?” Who are you leading to Jesus on a day to day basis? Because as P.T. explained to the kids, we are called to be disciple-makers making disciple-makers!! All of our students were challenged to look at their lives and ask God who they are following and who can they lead!
So, I want to pass that challenge along to you.
Who is your Elijah? Who has God placed in your life that you allow to speak God’s truth into your life? No matter our age, there is always something that God wants to teach us, and those lessons often come through other people. If you don’t have an “Elijah,” I want to challenge you to ask God to provide someone for you!! Throughout the Bible, God shows us this pattern: Elijah and Elisha; Moses and Joshua; Paul and Timothy.
1 Corinthians 11:1 says, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ.”
Who are you following?
And who is following you?
Has God given you an “Elisha” to help disciple? If he has, tell them how God has been faithful to you! Share what God has spoken to you and teach them to listen to His still, small voice! Pray for them and pray with them! Follow Christ with your whole heart and show them what it looks like to run this Christian race with Holy Spirit empowered endurance!
Before we left camp this weekend, I made sure to hug my “Elijah” and thank her for being the person that she is in my life! And I am also thankful for the “Elisha’s” that God has placed in my life! I am praying that each of them will run towards God with everything within them!!
Can you imagine the ripple effect that could take place if each of us will truly pick up the mantle of becoming a disciple-maker raising up disciple makers?! This year, let’s all pick up that mantle and run towards Jesus with our “Elijah’s” and “Elisha’s” with everything within us!!
