I've Witnessed it

By: Tabitha White

“I've witnessed Your faithfulness.
I've seen You breathe life within,
So I'll pour out my praise again.
You're worthy, God, You're worthy of all of it”

I’ve had this song on repeat since our night of worship with Bethany Worhle, and my mind keeps replaying all of the countless times that I have witnessed God’s faithfulness in my life.

In a court of law, a witness tells strictly the facts of what they have seen and what they know to be true about a specific incident. Their testimony can be what convinces a jury that someone should be set free or that they spend their lives in a prison cell. There is power in each witness’s testimony.

That sounds a little familiar, right?

Revelation 12:11 says, “And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.”

I’ll say it again, there is power in YOUR testimony!

“Your promises never fail!
I've got stories I'll live to tell!
So I'll pour out my praise again,
You're worthy, God, You're worthy of all of it!”

Do you need evidence to show how important it is to share what we have seen God do in our lives?

Judges 2:10 says, “After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the LORD or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel.”

Judges 3:7, “they forgot the LORD their God and served the Baals and the Asherahs.”

Judges 8:34, “They forgot the LORD their God, who had rescued them from all their enemies surrounding them.”

The Israelites that left Egypt, and those that had grown up in the wilderness, saw God do incredible things. God gave very specific instructions on sharing those stories from generation to generation, but these verses show that somewhere along the line one generation stopped sharing with the next.

Maybe they were busy or assumed that the next generation had already heard the stories. Whatever the reason, an entire generation grew up to not acknowledge God or remember the miracles that He had performed! Because of that, each of these verses are followed by God’s judgement or the Israelites falling into idol worship.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to be part of that generation. The generation that says, “oh, they already know,” or “i’ll tell them tomorrow,” or “they don’t want to hear about that”! No, I want to be the one that boldly proclaims all of the things that God has done.

“You're good and I've witnessed it
You're strong and I've witnessed it
You're constant, I've witnessed it
And I'm confident, I'll see it again and again
You love and I've witnessed it
You heal and I've witnessed it
You save and I've witnessed it
And I'm confident, I'll see it again and again”

Have you seen how good God is? Tell someone!
Has He shown you how strong He is? Share that story!
Has He been your constant friend, provider, or hope? Don’t keep it to yourself!
Has God loved, healed, and saved you? How can we not tell people about those times?

May we'll be the generation that truly follows God’s instructions and passes all that He has done from generation to generation!

“Your promises never fail
I've got stories I'll live to tell
So I'll pour out my praise again
You're worthy, God, You're worthy of all of it!”
