He is our strength

By: Angie Drummonds

In life’s most difficult moments, when the weight feels too heavy, when the tears won’t stop, when even getting out of bed feels like a battle, we are reminded of a beautiful truth: God is our source of strength.

His power is not like ours. It doesn’t tire. It doesn’t fade. It isn’t shaken by our circumstances. It’s steady, sure, and always enough.

There have been seasons in my own life when I felt utterly worn out, too weak to even pray the right words and yet, somehow, God carried me. Looking back, I know it wasn’t because I was strong; it was because He was.

The Bible overflows with encouragement for hearts like ours. Hearts that sometimes feel overwhelmed, tired, or simply done. One of the most comforting promises comes from Isaiah 40:29-31…

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint."

Isn’t it comforting that God doesn't scold us for being tired? He expects it. He knows our limits. Instead of demanding more from us, He invites us to receive more from Him.

We run out — He never does.

Another powerful reminder comes from 2 Corinthians 12:9, where Paul shares a deeply personal word from God:

"But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me."

It's often in our most broken, exhausted moments that God's strength shines the brightest.
Our weakness isn’t something to be ashamed of, it's the very place where God's power is put on display.

When life feels like it’s closing in, when trouble seems to outnumber hope, we can cling to the promise of Psalm 46:1:

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

He doesn’t watch from a distance. He steps into our struggle. He is right there, closer than our next breath offering us strength for today and hope for tomorrow.

How do we step into His strength when we feel empty?

1. By Trusting Him Completely.
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:  "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

Trusting God often means surrendering our need to have all the answers. It means placing the broken pieces into His hands and believing He can make something beautiful.

2. By Spending Time in His Presence.
Strength is renewed not by doing more, but by simply being with Him. He invites us to come close, to rest, to breathe.

As He promises in Exodus 33:14, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

In His presence, we find rest that the world could never offer.

3. By Declaring His Promises.
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can do is speak His truth out loud, especially when we don't feel it yet.

Philippians 4:13 says, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

These aren’t just nice words. They are a lifeline when everything else feels unstable.

Maybe today you feel worn out spiritually, emotionally, even physically. Maybe you're barely hanging on. Please hear this: You are not alone.

You don’t have to muscle through this life on your own strength. You have a Father who longs to carry you, to lift your weary heart, to be your strength when yours is gone.

Cling to His Word, trust His promises, and take the next step, not in our own power, but in His unshakable, unstoppable strength.
