Day 1
Faith Fact:
God gives me what I need.
Faith Verse:
Psalm 37:23
"The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."
Question of the Day:
How has God provided for your needs?
Read:
Exodus 15:22–27
Do you like looking through old photos? It can be a lot of fun remembering all the good times you had in the past with your family and friends on long weekends, vacations, and snow days. It’s a great idea to take a trip down memory lane with God as well. Try to remember all the things He has done for you in the past and how He provided for your needs at different times. By remembering the good things God has done for you, it can help you trust Him for things in the future. In today’s story, God provided water for the Israelites. If the people had thought about the awesome things God had done, they might have just asked Him for help. Instead, they complained and made demands.
Think about it:
Question 1. After leaving the Red Sea, where did the Israelites go?
Answer 1. The desert of Shur (Exodus 15:22)
Question 2. What was wrong with the water the Israelites found in the desert?
Answer 2. It tasted so bitter that they couldn’t drink it. (Exodus 15:23)
Question 3. Who did Moses go to for help with the water?
Answer 3. The Lord, God (Exodus 15:25)
Question 4. How did God change the bitter water of Marah into good water?
Answer 4. By showing Moses a piece of wood to throw into the water (Exodus 15:24–25)
Question 5. What did God say He would keep away from the Israelites if they obeyed Him?
Answer 5. Diseases that the Egyptians suffered from (Exodus 15:26)
Talk about It:
•What did today’s devotion make you think about?
•Has God always taken care of you?
•What are some ways He has taken care of you in the past?
•What are some needs that He has provided for you in the last year?
•What do you need to thank God for?
Pray about It:
God, thank You for always taking care of me and for all You have done for me in the past. I never want to forget what You have done to change my life for the better. Help me trust You with everything that comes my way. Amen.
God gives me what I need.

Day 2
Faith Fact:
God gives me what I need.
Faith Verse:
Psalm 37:23
"The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."
Question of the Day:
Do you complain too much?
Read:
Exodus 3:17–20; 14:10–12; 15:24–25; 16:1–5
What would happen if you wrote down every time you complained about something in a day? How many times do you think you would do it? Now, what would happen if every time you thought about complaining about something, you stopped and prayed instead? What if we traded our complaints for prayers? I think it would be powerful. Make it a goal to complain less and pray more.
Think about it:
Question 1. How did God persuade Pharaoh to let the Israelites go?

Question 2. What did the Israelites complain about in Exodus 14:10–12?

Answer 3. What they would have to drink (Exodus 15:24)
Question 4. What did the Israelites complain about in Exodus 16:1–3?

•How often do you complain?
•Do you complain about little things or big things?
•Do you think you complain more or pray more?
•How can you make a change to pray more and complain less?
Pray about It:
God, I’m sorry for all the times I have complained when I should have been praying to You. Help me to replace my complaints with prayer every single day. Amen.

Faith Fact:
God gives me what I need.
Faith Verse:
Psalm 37:23
"The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."
Question of the Day:
Does God provide exactly what I need?
Read:
Exodus 16:4–18
Think about paying for something in cash. Maybe it’s your favorite candy bar, a delicious soda, or the latest video game. There is nothing quite like having the exact amount of money you needed to pay for it, down to the last penny. It’s unusual, but when it happens, it’s so cool. It’s not unusual for God to provide exactly what we need. In fact, God provides exactly what we need every single day. We may not even realize it, but everything we have is a gift from God.
Think about it:
Question 1. How did God provide bread for the Israelites in the wilderness?
Answer 1. By sending manna (Exodus 16:1–18)

Talk about It:

•What are some needs that God provides for you every single day?
•Do you have enough food? Do you have clothes to wear? Do you have a place to sleep at night?
Pray about It:
God, thank You for giving me exactly what I need, not too much and not too little. Amen.
God gives me what I need.

Day 4
Faith Fact:
God gives me what I need.
Faith Verse:
Psalm 37:23
"The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."
Question of the Day:
Do I ever doubt that God provides what I need?
Read:
Exodus 16:19–32; Luke 12:15
It’s easy to say that we know that God provides for our needs, but do we really believe it 100 percent of the time? Every time we complain, get a bad attitude, or try to do something on our own without God’s help, our actions say that we don’t trust God to provide for our needs. We try to take things into our own hands and make plans for how we think things should turn out. God sees our past, present, and our future. No one knows better than He does what we truly need. Let’s stop doubting God and put our trust in Him with our words and our actions.
Think about it:
Question 1. What did Jesus teach about material possessions?
Answer 1. Don’t be greedy. A person’s life does not consist of what he owns. (Luke 12:15)
Question 2. What did Moses tell the people not to do with the manna?
Answer 2. Don’t keep any of it until the next morning. (Exodus 16:19)
Question 3. Did all of the Israelites listen and follow God’s instructions?
Answer 3. No (Exodus 16:20)
Question 4. What happened to the manna the Israelites kept overnight?
Answer 4. It was full of maggots and smelled bad. (Exodus 16:20)
Question 5. Were the people supposed to go out and gather manna on the seventh day, the Sabbath?
Answer 5. No (Exodus 16:25–26)
Talk about It:
•What did today’s devotion make you think about?
•Have you ever doubted God? What did you doubt?
•Do your actions show that you trust God to provide for your needs?
•Do your words show that you trust God to provide for your needs?
Pray about It:
God, I’m sorry for the times I have doubted You with my words or actions. Thank You for providing for my needs even when I have doubted You. Amen.
