God keeps His promises.

Faith Verse
"For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
Isaiah 9:6

Question of the Day:
What is something good that you had to wait for?

Read:
Pray and ask God to speak to you before you read today’s Scripture.

There were many times that God gave promises to people in the Bible, but they had to wait for those promises to be fulfilled. Two couples in the Bible had to wait for a very special baby to be born. The story of one couple is found in the Old Testament and the other couple’s story is in the New Testament. Let’s read about the promise God made to Abraham and Sarah.
Read Genesis 15:2–5; 18:1, 9–15; 21:1–3.

Abraham trusted God’s promise and believed that He would keep His word. God made another promise to send a Savior. He spoke through many prophets who told the people that a Savior was coming, but they didn’t know when that would happen. They had to trust and wait just like Abraham and Sarah did. Hundreds of years passed before the promises from the prophets were fulfilled. Now let’s read about the second promised Baby.
Read Galatians 4:4.

Just as God promised, Jesus came into the world. God knew the perfect time to send Jesus to be born. We can trust God’s timing. He always keeps His promises!

Think about it:
Question 1:
Who was Abraham’s wife?
Answer 1: Sarah (Genesis 17:15)

Question 2:
What promise did God make to Abraham and Sarah?
Answer 2: God promised Abraham that Sarah would have a son. (Genesis 18:10)

Question 3:
What was the name of the son born to Abraham and Sarah?
Answer 3: Isaac (Genesis 21:1–3)

Talk about it:
-What are some things you must wait for?
-Why is it sometimes hard for us to wait?
-What are some things we can do to help us wait more patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled in our own life?

Pray about it:
Dear God, thank You for always keeping Your promises. You are always faithful to keep Your Word, and I trust You. Amen.
